Emily Zizza

Emily is a native of Frostburg who "caught the music bug" through participating in marching, all-county, and concert bands at Beall High School (Mountain Ridge) and taking private clarinet lessons as a student of Jean Miller. 

She has a performing background with Navy Band Northwest and Fleet Forces Band. Before joining, she completed a Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Musical Arts in Clarinet Performance at the University of Texas at Austin, and a Bachelor of Music in Clarinet Performance at the University of Michigan. She loves playing in the Allegany County Community Orchestra and the Potomac Concert Band, and is grateful to return to teaching. “Teaching is as much fun for me as I hope it is for my students! It’s exciting to see them trust their own voice, experiment with sound, and develop more courage to be expressive. I hope to pass on what music has done for me in my life: build confidence and discipline, be a refuge, and a place to discover.
